THE WITHERNSEA — DRY WAX DECK JACKET

Named for the East Yorkshire town with a lighthouse in the middle of its streets.

Withernsea's light was built so far inland the town grew round it, which tells you how much the sea moves on that coast. This is the deck jacket for that weather — a collar to turn up and a storm flap over the zip. It earns its marks rather than being sold with them.

A deck jacket cut from 12oz dry wax cotton from British Millerain. Dry wax, not oiled — it goes on matte and dusty rather than shiny.

Quilted through the body, with a Borg collar to turn up against the wind and a button storm flap over the zip to keep the weather out. Open it up and the G runs right through the lining, black on black.
