I've spent most of my working life onshore, offshore, factories, harbours, docks and building, fixing and maintaining equipment that people rely on every day. Engineering teaches you to look at things differently. You stop seeing products for what they are and start asking why they were made that way. Why this material? Why that seam? Why this buckle? Could it work better?

When the shift finished, I'd head straight for the coast. Sometimes it was paddleboarding, sometimes climbing, sometimes just walking the cliffs with a coffee or ending the day with a pint overlooking the sea. I found myself living between two worlds: industrial engineering during the week and the outdoors at every opportunity.

The problem was that I could never find equipment that really suited both. Everyday bags looked great but weren't built to take years of hard use. Technical expedition gear was incredibly capable, but often overcomplicated, expensive and designed for environments most of us never see. I wanted something in the middle—equipment that was engineered properly, looked good enough to carry every day and could still cope with whatever the British coast decided to throw at it.

That's why I started Greybank.

Every product begins with a problem, not a sketch. We spend far more time thinking about construction, materials and functionality than chasing trends. If a seam can be stronger, we'll change it. If a harness can carry weight more comfortably, we'll redesign it. If a feature doesn't genuinely improve the product, it doesn't make the cut.

Greybank isn't about making more gear. It's about engineering better equipment for people who work hard, travel often and feel most at home outdoors.

For everyone the sea calls back, and those who answer.
