THE MAKING OF THE BARRA — PART 1

It starts with the fit.

Not the logo.

Not the fabric.

The fit.

We've spent more time refining the silhouette than any other part of the Barra.

Because how many times have you spent good money on a pair of shorts, only to put them on and realise they're just... not right?

Too baggy.

Too slim.

Too long.

Too short.

The pockets sit in the wrong place.

They look great on a hanger but never quite work once you wear them.

We wanted to change that.

The Barra isn't a military cargo short.

It isn't a hiking short.

It isn't a golf short.

The Barra is built for the hours after work.

We wanted a short that feels relaxed where you need movement, yet looks clean and tailored whether you're in the garden, on the drive, or heading into the pub afterwards.

That meant one thing...

A carrot fit.

Roomy through the hips and thighs with subtle waist pleats, before tapering down to a slimmer opening that finishes just above the knee.

It sounds like a small detail.

It isn't.

That shape completely changes how the shorts wear.

Most technical shorts fall straight from hip to hem, giving them a boxy, utilitarian look. We wanted something more refined — technical performance without looking overly technical.

Then we started stripping everything back.

One cargo pocket.

One waterproof AquaGuard zip.

Matte black cotton-nylon ripstop.

A single Greybank rubber patch.

An adjustable waist with a POM (Delrin) cord lock, so you can dial in the fit without needing a belt.

Nothing unnecessary.

Every detail has to earn its place.

This is only the beginning.
