A Word From Our Founder

People often ask why I started Greybank.

The truth is, it had nothing to do with clothing.

It started with a box.

A few years ago I bought an expensive vernier caliper. The tool itself was excellent, but when I opened the package it came in a flimsy plastic case that felt like it had cost pennies to make.

For something that was engineered so well, the presentation and protection felt like an afterthought.

I couldn't stop thinking about it.

As an engineer, that's just how my mind works.

I started looking at everything differently. Workwear. Jackets. Bags. Hardware. Zips. Fabrics.

Why was this pocket stitched like that?

Why was this zip chosen?

Why does this jacket cost hundreds of pounds but still feel compromised?

The more I looked, the more I realised that many products were designed around cost before quality.

I wanted to do the opposite.

Not by adding more features, but by making better decisions.

Better materials.

Better hardware.

Better construction.

Better engineering.

Greybank wasn't born because I wanted to start a fashion brand.

It was born because I couldn't stop asking, "How could this be built better?"

What it's for

Twenty years in factories and on plant, onshore and offshore. When the shift finished there was never anything I actually wanted to put on — workwear that looked like workwear, or fashion that fell apart.

So Greybank makes the other thing. Clothes cut like the old stuff, from cloth heavy enough to take years, with nothing shouting across the chest. Built for after work, and worn to it, to the pub, and to nowhere in particular.

Every Greybank product starts with a question:

How can we build this better?

Everything after that follows naturally.

Made to graft. For the aftergraft.
